The hackers, who belonged to the Ministry of State Security, cleared out an astonishing amount of defense information such as “secret plans to develop a supersonic anti-ship missile for use on U.S. submarines by 2020” according to the Post, as well as “614 gigabytes of material relating to a closely held project known as Sea Dragon, as well as signals and sensor data, submarine radio room information relating to cryptographic systems, and the Navy submarine development unit’s electronic warfare library.” Since one gigabyte is equivalent to about a thousand good-sized books, roughly a half-million pages of text, this was an astonishingly large [data] compromise.

Worst.Historian.Ever.
Joe Hung of Taiwan’s China Post explains how the West LOST the Cold War:
The United States tried to contain the Soviet Union in vain. [Emphasis added]
Nice tin foil hat. Really goes with the suit.
In the same paragraph, Comrade Historian also rewrites the history of Asia to better suit his Zhongnanhai-directed Communist narrative:
Uncle Sam continued to contain Mao Zedong’s China after the chairman had sent his army to fight the Korean War. The containment did not work, of course, and it took President Richard Nixon ending it to pave the way for concluding the normalization of relations between the United States and the People’s Republic in 1979. [Emphasis added]
Now, I’m no doctor of history, but I DO know multiple sources confirm that no Soviet army overran Western Europe in 1963. Nor did any Chinese Communist army step foot in Taiwan.
So whaddya know? Maybe containment DID kinda work after all, huh?
UPDATE: Perhaps credentialed (but uneducated) Comrade Historian Joe Hung confuses the strategy of Containment with that of Rollback?
Because they are two very different things, you know. Not that a PhD-holder from Georgetown University could ever understand such highly-advanced concepts…
UPDATE (Nov 3 / 2015): Apparently, 33 U.S. servicemen were killed protecting Taiwan from Communist China.
A great pity a worthless Communist lickspittle like Joe Hung benefited from their sacrifice.
UPDATE (Nov 4 / 2015): Like most liars, Joe Hung struggles to keep his stories straight:
It took U.S. President Harry S. Truman — who had written off Chiang — to neutralize the Taiwan Strait right after the Korean War broke out in 1950 to prevent Mao Zedong from “washing Taiwan with blood.” With American military and economic assistance, Chiang was able to reorganize his defeated armies into a defense force strong enough to deny Mao a takeover of Taiwan by force…
That sounds suspiciously like saying Mao Tse-tung was successfully contained to me.

That Is Why You Fail, Part Cuatro
Some weird paranoia on display from the KMT's nominee for the Taiwanese presidency:
“However, it should be our initiative to unify [with Communist China], rather than being annexed by someone else,” [Hung Hsiu-chu] said.
This observer is not aware of anyone OTHER than Communist China who's expressed an interest in annexing Taiwan in this day and age.
Would Lady Straitjacket be so kind as to reveal the identity of this diabolical enemy hiding so stealthily in the shadows?
How America’s Response To Nork, Russian And CHINESE Aggression Prevented World War III
Will The KMT Tap Comrade Historian Joe Hung To Revise Taiwanese Textbooks?
Joe Hung, the veteran China Post columnist goes full Maoist in his latest. He used to try to dance around it a bit more, but he's not gettin' any younger, and #YOLO:
"Then, Mao sent his Army to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea to fight the Americans in the Korean War…" [Emphasis added]
If it's a Joe Hung column, one expects bizarre Sinofascist Big Lies, and Hung fails to disappoint:
"…rising China…may turn out to be the true caretaker of the United States to keep world peace." [Emphasis added]
Yeah sure, Comrade Historian. That could happen.
But only if Beijing can exercise enough self-control to abandon its belligerent threats against its neighbors and drop its illegitimate territorial claims against Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and India.
Oh, and resist the temptation to manufacture any NEW territorial claims…

China’s Peaceful Rise? Beijing Slavers For War
Chinese unilaterally declare Japanese air-zone as their own.
If he were an honest man, Joe Hung of Taiwan's China Post would now write a column apologizing for being hoodwinked by claims of "China's Peaceful Rise".
IF he were an honest man…
UPDATE: Ha. Missed this quote from Yang Yujun of China's Ministry of War:
China "has always respected the freedom of over-flight in accordance with international law".
Sure. With exactly the same respect it affords the territory of its neighbors.
More Fabulism From The China Post
From today's China Post:
Almost everybody knows that the signing of the [services] trade agreement [between Taiwan and Communist China] is the right thing to do. [Emphasis added]
That would be true…if "almost everybody" was defined as "34% of everybody". From the Asia Times:
A survey of 1,008 Taiwan adults released in late July by Taiwan Indicators Survey Research found that 48% opposed signing the services trade pact [with Communist China], while 34% were in favor. [Emphasis added]
To the editors of the China Post: 34% << "Almost everybody".
I know math is hard, but you could at least try a little.
